Lunches
Our
organization meets for lunch monthly between September
and May. Those meetings provide an opportunity for networking
and business development. There is an industry-related
speaker at each meeting.
The Annual General Meeting is held in March and our family
BBQ is in June. The 2010 BBQ will be held on June 17.
Information on, and registration
forms for, current functions can be found at the bottom
of this page. |

Lunches
start at 11:30 a.m. and feature a hosted bar and guest speaker.
Fees are $35 for members and $40 for non-members although many
of our functions are so popular that they may be restricted
to "Members Only". Prices include GST. Location may
vary. Pre-registration is required and reservations are guaranteed
3 working days preceding the event. No-shows are invoiced.
Non-members are required to pay in advance.
Over
the last few months our speakers have included:
- Randall McKay and Darren Enns, Town of Banff (Land Use Bylaw Review)
- Mayor Ron Casey , Town of Canmore
- Roger Kondrat, Mighty Mouth Media (Social Networking for Business)
- Guy Turcotte, StoneCreek Properties (Overview of AB Oilsands Projects)
- Ann Keith, Maxwell Mountain Realty (State of the Real Estate Market)
We're
working on our line up for 2010. For your convenience,
click on the
lunch meeting schedule for
future dates and meeting locations. If
you have suggestions for speakers or workshops, please don't
hesitate to contact Emily Smith at events@bowda.ca.
We've also added a 5 minute spot at each lunch for members to
profile their businesses. Contact Emily to join the line
up.
Of
course, we also have the odd lunch that is strictly for entertainment:
Gary Ellenton provided a great slide show of Patagonia: fly
fishing and land development in one package and one of our Christmas
lunches was at the Oh Canada Eh! Dinner Theatre.

| Our
June 17, 2010 BBQ was held once again at the
Cross Zee Ranch in Canmore. There were trail rides for adults,
pony rides for the very little ones, a cash bar, great food
and entertainment for the kids. A great time was had
by all. |
Workshops
& Seminars
Periodically
throughout the year we have educational functions for
our members; these have included: a development
workshop presented by Town of Canmore departments in
conjunction with our 2004 Annual General Meeting; an
Occupational Health & Safety Seminar; a members' Think
Tank on Non-Market Housing and a Builders' Issues Roundtable
held as part of our 2005 AGM. Our 2008
AGM included a practical forum on developing
affordable housing. Please see the AGM
Information Brochure.
