About BOWDA

Aerial View of Canmore - Photo Credit Canmore Tourism The Bow Valley Builders and Developers Association (BOWDA) was incorporated as a Society on April 16, 2007.  The organization was created by and from the membership of UDI Canmore which had operated in the Bow Valley since 1995.  BOWDA continues to represent its diverse membership of developers, builders, consultants, trades and suppliers in the municipal arena as well as on provincial issues directly related to our mandate.  That mandate can be found by following the link to BOWDA's Objects.  BOWDA will maintain linkages with other development and building related associations in order to develop support on common issues.

BOWDA has an elected Board of Directors that meets monthly with its Executive Director.  To maintain regular liaison, members of the Board also meet monthly with the Town of Canmore's Chief Administrative Officer and senior managers.   The full Board meets with Canmore's CAO and senior managers semi-annually. BOWDA committees meet with members of municipal administrations in the Valley to resolve issues that affect development.  The Executive Director meets regularly with senior and departmental managers and attends Canmore Council meetings and acts as an advocate when serious concerns arise.  BOWDA's events co-ordinator organizes monthly lunches for the membership as well as educational workshops and seminars.
